[Philodemic Society] Re: Resolutions for consideration at the September 7 Business Meeting

Resolved: The thirteen colonies should not have rebelled against Great Britain.

Religious
Resolved: Abraham was justified in his decision to kill Isaac.
Resolved: The policy of laïcité is antithetical to democracy.

Philosophical
Resolved: Reason is subservient to emotion. (Hume debate)
Resolved: "Self-interest rightly understood" is a principle on which American society operates. (Tocqueville debate)
Resolved: The arts and sciences have corroded Western social mores. (Rousseau debate)
