[dcphp-dev] [job] Senior Web Application Developer (Long-term Contract)

Integrate and develop web-based applications for a platform that supports almost 200 software products! You will help architect new solutions for their existing customer-facing products and contribute to the migration of applications from a mainframe to Ruby on Rails platform. This is a great opportunity to work with a variety and depth of technologies as a software engineer.

ettain group has an immediate opening for a Senior Web Application Developer in Arlington, VA. This is a long-term contract opportunity with a successful Publishing and Media company. Our client will consider candidates with demonstrated experience with scripting languages like TCL, PHP, Python or PERL. This candidate will also need to be strong in front-end development tools like HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.

Responsibilities:

· Integrate software components from internal and external developers

· Test and debug programs; resolve application problems

· Document application procedures and specifications

· Write program code based on system requirements

· Develop system designs and specifications for multi-vendor and open source application environment with an emphasis on creating reusable components

· Work with system analysts and project manager to develop project schedules and estimates

· Prepare technical system and application documentation; ensure that company-specific software engineering standards are followed

· Collaborate with quality assurance staff to ensure production of defect-free software

Requirements:

· 5+ years experience in software development, including experience working with software in a multi-vendor and open source application environment

· Must have Green Card or US Citizenship

· 4-year college degree minimum

· Experience developing and designing large, customer-facing websites

· Expert in HTML (HTML5 preferred), table-less CSS (CSS3 preferred) and JavaScript

· Expert in Web Frameworks, preferably JQuery, AJAX or JSON

· Strong experience with cross-browser-compatibility issues

· Proven ability to develop web standards, including 508 compliance

· Experience using debugging tools like Chrome developer tools, Firebug or IE developer tools

· Practical knowledge of XML and related technologies (XSLT, xPath, etc.)

· Experience working in a Linux environment

· Experience with SQL using a relational database (Oracle) is preferred

· Experience using a version control system such as CVS, Subversion or GIT

· Ability to work in an Agile development environment

· Must be able to communicate and collaborate well on a diverse team

· Any experience with Ruby on Rails is a plus
