[dcphp-dev] [job] Multiple remote PHP opportunities

I hope this this week is treating you all well. I wanted to share a couple of positions we're currently working on, both are focused on PHP and Front-End development, but offer different advantages.

I've included both descriptions below my signature for you to review, but let me give you a brief description of each.

The first is a position here in DC with an extremely well-funded non-profit. They are looking for a Sr. PHP Developer to contribute to the overall team, the have a fairly flat structure that encourages developers to participate and share input in a variety of ways. The salary for the role is between $100K - $140K and has incredible benefits including fully remote options, full-employer paid benefits, generous vacation time, and a few other perks like continuing education assistance.

The second is a predominantly fully remote role here in the DC area. They are a rapidly growing Ed Tech company that has plans to triple in size over the next year. Currently, they are looking to build an office that will be ready in the Q4, once that's finished they'd like developers to check-in once or twice a week for team perspective work. The benefits are also strong, including partial paid benefits, unlimited vacation, and again they have a serious amount of flexibility in terms of remote roles.

I'd love to discuss both of these with anyone who is interested. Feel free to give me a call at (202) 626-0250 or shoot me an email jacob.dechant@rht.com so we can discuss.

Thanks,

Jacob

[dcphp-dev] Hackathon in Frederick, MD

Hey everyone!  I wanted to let you know about a Hackathon we are running up in the Frederick neck-of-the-woods.  In case any of the DC peeps want to come join us ...
-------------------------------------

That's right.  The group leaders from Frederick WebTech, Python Frederick, KeyLUG, the Frederick Startup Community, and the Frederick AWS Meetup have all gotten together to plan an organized hackathon.

This event will take place on October 8th at Hood College.  We will have two separate tracks working on similar projects.  We have a technology evangelist coming into town from Nexmo, an SMS-via-API provider.  And using their API, we will be building apps using publicly available weather APIs, tying it together with the SMS API, to come up with neat little apps.  (Get a text message if it's about to rain?)

One track will be for advanced programmers who just want the API docs and to sit around and code for the day.  The other will be for beginning programmers who want to learn.  We'll have the advanced coders sit down and help people through the process of getting started, and show them how to hook up the two APIs and end up with an application that works by the end of the day!

Nexmo will be providing pizza for lunch, and the whole event only costs $5 to join.

More details & registration are available at https://www.hackfrederick.com

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Eli
