[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Question about Sunday meetings

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to return to a more regular meditation practice after several years apart from it (and the much less formal practice involved in having two preschoolers around...).  I would love to start trying to come on Sundays, but I don't know how often I could stay for the whole time period, given dinner timing and preparing for the next school/workday.  Do you all think it's ok to come just for the beginning guided meditation sometimes?  I would much prefer, of course, to stay for the dharma talk as well, but I am feeling I'd much rather have some of the experience than none of it.  But of course, I don't want to leave early if that would be disruptive or disrespectful.  Thanks so much in advance for any input.

Best,
Naomi

[dcphp-dev] Meetup Review - January 2016

Thanks to everyone who came out in the snow for our first meetup of 2016!

We had a great discussion and collected a ton of ideas for topics we'd like to see throughout the year. I've compiled them in a new github repo here: https://github.com/dcphp/documents/blob/master/presentation-ideas.md

If you have any ideas you'd like to add, please send a pull request, and if you'd like to present on any of the topics you see (or anything else, for that matter!) please let me know!

Once again, I'd like to thank our amazing sponsors: PHP Architect (@phparch), Canvas Cowork (@canvascowork), and AOL (@aol_inc). If you have a moment, please tweet at them to let them know how much their support means to our community.

Lastly, I'll be announcing the topic for our February meetup, which will be on February 10th, in the very near future, so stay tuned!

[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Potluck Sunday Sangha (Jan 3)

Dear fellow sangha friends,
Happy New Year!  Hope you've been enjoying the holiday season.... As a way to bring in the new year, we're reintroducing the potluck tradition on the 1st Sunday of the month at the Downtown Dharma sangha (at Church of the Holy City on 16th and Corcoran), 6:00-7:30pm.  Hugh will lead a meditation and then we'll have some mindful eating and discussion. Please bring a vegetarian dish, snacks, or beverage to share with the group - to cut down on waste, please bring a reusable plate/bowl and utensils.  If you don't see this in time, come anyway, there's always enough to share.

Namaste,
Danya
