Job Description

Triple Canopy is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to create web-enabled applications to facilitate the capture and reporting of operational and departmental information for the company. The Sr. Software Engineer's role is to design, execute, assess, and troubleshoot software programs and applications. This includes configuring, coding, developing, and documenting software specifications throughout the project life cycle. The Software Engineer will also oversee system startups in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide support to other departments where required. Maintain and support core system applications, primarily in PHP on Linux/Apache.

Work with management to analyze user requirements, design and develop web/database applications. Primary responsibilities include writing requirements when needed, designing and implementing web based applications primarily in PHP, provide time estimates for tasks. Candidate should be a self starter who can lead cross functional teams to collaborate in development projects.

In this role you will provide Web-based and script-based PHP software development. Assist in the integration Triple of Canopy's critical business applications and participate in the overall enterprise data architecture schema

Position Responsibilities
• Software design, development and test with PHP on Linux systems
• Collaborate with analysts and designers in the development and initiation of new software programs and applications
• Oversee the quality assurance of program logic, data processing, and error resolution
• Develop and suggest programming and design alternatives
• Interact regularly with managers, clients, vendors, and agencies to field queries and answer questions
• Research, document, and implement program requirements and specifications
• Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications
• Run and monitor performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging
• Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application development best practices
• Gather statistics and prepare and write reports on the status of the programming process for discussion with management and/or team members
• Determine, develop, and maintain user manuals and guidelines
• Be able to take initiative and work collaboratively to complete tasks
• Report on project progress status and metrics as required
• Demonstrated ability to do rapid prototyping of applications and interfaces
• Development experience on Linux systems.

For consideration, candidates should have:
• BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
• Must be customer service driven
• 5 years experience in web based software development with at least 1 year of solid PHP as the primary development language
• Must be able to articulate knowledge of general PHP syntax and usage
• 5 years experience in database application development
• Have the ability to hold a Secret Clearance

Desired skills:
• Experience with Linux bash and shell scripting a plus
• Strong SQL knowledge, preferably with MySQL or Postgres and/or MS SQL experience developing with PHP, HTML, Javascript, and CSS, in a Linux environment
• Experience with various other languages a plus, such as C/C++
• Database administration experience
• PHP, Linux, MySQL, Postgres or MSSQL Certifications
• Experience in integrating applications, ERP, Human Resources, Finance, Logistics and other enterprise applications
• Understanding of Lawson and Deltek a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Understanding of section 508 requirements for accessibility.
Working knowledge of Subversion or other version control systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated appreciation for user experience and user interface design.
Ability to learn quickly, self-direct as part of a small team, establish timelines, and deliver products within deadlines.

Desirables:

Experience with mobile web development/responsive design.
Experience in Python, Perl, and/or other languages
Understanding of Web services and Web 2.0 technologies.

This is harry, the young guy with long blond hair, I come to the meditations once in a while. I am interested in creating a group house in mt. Pleasant or surrounding neighborhoods. Or if that does not pan out, possibly join a house with other cool people. My idea for creating a group house is to find kind, warm, and respectful people that have interest in meditation, yoga, art, sustainability issues, or something like this and create a healthy and warm place to call home. It would be nice to have a little sense of community as well, maybe cooking together or doing yoga together from time to time. These are just some ideas... I have some good leads on housing. I have one person interested in joining already. And I personally would need to find something affordable or reasonable in cost. Let me know if you may want to join forces in some way.

من همون موقع که بعد از ۵ ساعت کوه نوردی رسیدیم به قله
و به سرپرست گفتم؛حالا باید چیکار کنیم؟ و اون گفت : باید برگردیم
فهمیدم کوه نوردی ورزشِ اسکولاست !

وقتی در یخچال رو باز می کنی :
۱- اگر بخوای چیزی توش بذاری، تا خرخره پره
۲- اگه گرسنت باشه بخوای چیزی بخوری ، فقط کمی برفک موجوده !

اینجوری که پسرا پیش میرن فک کنم روز عروسی باید
عروس با ماشین بره دومادو از آرایشگاه بیاره !

ما بچه که بودیم مامانمون یه دمپایی داشت
که اگه تو دعوا پرت می کرد طرفت و جاخالی نمی دادی مرگ مغزی می شدی!
حالا مامانای امروزی می خوان تنبیه کنن می گن
آی پد جدید که اومد دیگه برات نمی خریم پسر بی تربیت، باید با همون آی پد قبلیت بسازی :|

[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Still-point Meditation at All Souls this Saturday

Dear Friends,

Lydia and I have just returned from Ghana as part of the Sankofa Journeyers pilgrimage looking into the past to inform our future. It was a very powerful experience, especially following in the tracks of the transatlantic slave trade. It was humbling and motivating. In this Saturday's Finding Our Still-point through yoga, deep relaxation, and mindfulness meditation class, I will weave insights from this journey into the teachings.

Please join me from 10 am to noon in the Eaton Room as we continue our journey.

Finding Your Still-point with mindful yoga, deep relaxation, and meditation

Sat. Oct. 19 from 10 am to noon

at At All Souls Church Unitarian

1500 Harvard St. NW DC

Much of the yoga will be done standing. Some will be done sitting.

Chairs will be provided. If you want to practice on the floor bring a mat and cushion, or a blanket. It will be gentle and accessible for everyone regardless of experience.

The movements will be followed by a period of deep relaxation, which can be done seated or lying down. Then we will practice guided sitting meditation closing with a healing meditation on love and kindness.

Suggested Donation: $20

[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Only a Few Weeks 'TIl The Wisdom of the Herd The Unity of the Sangha: A Day of Mindfulness and Horses November 9 Sangha Retreat

I am about to head out the door to assist at an event at Awakened Heart Sanctuary, and wanted to take the opportunity to remind sangha members that the date for The Wisdom of the Herd The Unity of the Sangha: A Day of Mindfulness and Horses is fast approaching. Date: Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 8:30a-4:30p

Description: Meditation and horses each provides a conduit to experience the moment as it is and to see ourselves and the world around us through the eyes of peace, loving kindness, and non-judgment. This unique and nourishing experience will include:

• standing, walking and seated insight meditation

• dharma talk

• quiet observation of the herd

• interactive individual and collaborative experientials with the horses

Why Horses?

Horses live very much in a heightened state of awareness, fully in the present moment. They are extraordinarily receptive and expressive animals. They communicate with one another in an extremely complex, but almost completely nonverbal manner. Structured equine-assisted activities use horses to facilitate the bringing to the surface one's awareness, memories and emotions-- all of those fundamental and important things that are often not being verbalized.

The activities that you will participate in are designed to encourage mindfulness, or being fully present in the moment. The structure of the retreat, the horses and participants co-create a unique experience based on the communication and emotional and energetic exchanges that occur in the moment. Many participants report a sense of being understood or acknowledged on a deep and profound level by the equine participants.

All of the horses and humans participate at will. There is no riding at this event! All activities take place on the ground.
