[Philodemic Society] Re: Resolutions for consideration at the September 28 Business Meeting

I want to second Sam's suggestion that we vote again on:
Resolved: the minimum wage should be abolished.

Also:
Resolved: Selfishness, properly understood, is a virtue.
Resolved: Environmentalism is the successor to socialism.
Resolved: The voluntary sale of organs should be legalized.
Resolved: A parent's child custody rights should be salable.
Resolved: Vigilantism is sometimes justified.
Resolved: Reason is man's only oracle. (Or: Reason is man's only means of knowledge.)
Resolved: Drug addicts are evil, not helpless victims.
Resolved: Drug use is a moral problem, not a public health problem.
Resolved: Justice is incompatible with mercy.
Resolved: The U.S. should adopt a policy of free and unrestricted immigration. (Obviously excluding criminals, people with smallpox, etc.)
Resolved: The U.S. does not do enough to support Israel.
Resolved: The U.S. should regard all Israeli settlements as legitimate.
Resolved: Jesus should not have died for mankind's sins. (Or: It is wrong for a perfect being to sacrifice himself to save the wicked.)
Resolved: Original sin is incompatible with free will.
Resolved: Most people are not good.
Resolved: Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are incompatible with poverty, chastity, and obedience (i.e. a priest's vows).
Resolved: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is reprehensible.
