Re: [Downtown Dharma Listserve] This Sunday at The Potter's House: The Best Season of Your Life

This is the prayer I shared this evening.

For Presence
John O'Donohue

Awaken to the mystery of being here
and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence
Have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.
Receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon.
Respond to the call of your gift and the courage to follow its path.
Let the flame of anger free you of all falsity.
May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame.
May anxiety never linger about you.
May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of soul.
Take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek no attention.
Be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.
May you experience each day as a sacred gift
woven around the heart of wonder.

Blessings,
Dan

Dear Friends,

In parallel with the rebirth of nature, the Persian New Year starts precisely at the vernal equinox, followed by 13 days of cleansing festivities.

I invite you to join me on day 11, Sunday, March 31 from 6-7:30 pm in the Community Room of the Potter's House. Together, we will meditate, share in community, and plant seeds for the season from that space of clearing and connection.

The meeting space is wheelchair accessible. Chairs are available, and please feel free to bring your own sitting gear if you would like.

I look forward to being with you,

Linda

[Downtown Dharma Listserve] This Sunday at Potter's House: The Buddha Gives Relationship Advice

Greetings Friends,

This Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30 pm we will gather at Potter's House in the Community Room behind the bookstore/cafe.

If your daily practice could use a little support, come join us for the opening meditation and receive the mysterious support of Sangha for our practice.

After that, we'll explore a particular teaching from the Buddhist Suttas, "The Bamboo Acrobat." In this little gem of a story featuring two characters who depend on one another for well-being, the Buddha offers guidance on how we can ensure harmony and mutual benefit. His insights surprised his followers and might surprise you!

The meeting space is wheelchair accessible. Chairs and some meditation cushions will be available, but please feel free to bring your own cushion if you like.  If you can come early to help set up, that would be most appreciated.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Science: Sunday Night @ The Potter's House @ 6 pm

"I sweep the floor with attentiveness, and I sweep my mind."
Michael Stone

Dear Friends,

It's been said that the difference between formal and informal meditation practice is like the difference between "lab science" and "field science". On Sunday, March 17 from 6-7:30 pm at the Community Room of the Potter's House, we will discuss and take part in both of these types of science.

The meeting space is wheelchair accessible. Chairs will be available, and please feel free to bring your own sitting gear if you would like.

I look forward to being with you,
Linda

New Domain property added to your account

Dear Search Console user,

The Search Console team is always trying to improve our product, based on user feedback. One common complaint we heard is that users don't like having to create separate properties to cover http, https, www, m, and other variations of their site. We heard you, and we are proud to introduce a great new feature, called a Domain property, to consolidate your common site variations into a single property.

A Domain property includes URLs from all subdomains, paths, and protocols. For example, if you define your Domain property as "example.com", your property includes URLs from example.com, m.example.com, www.example.com, and any other subdomains of example.com, on both http and https.

The addition of this property will not affect or remove your existing properties. You can remove this property if you like. Domain properties are available only in new Search Console.

We've created the following Domain property for you, based on your existing properties (maximum 8 properties shown):

You'll find this property in your account today.

To: <dc-mindful-lawyers@googlegroups.com>

Dear all:  Join us on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Georgetown University Law Center for a half day mindfulness meditation retreat for lawyers, law students, and legal professionals. Learn how simple mindfulness practices can help to calm the mind, focus attention, and awaken us to the aliveness of the present moment in which our lives can unfold with greater freedom, creativity, and ease.

9 a.m.: Gather and breakfast

9:30 a.m.-12 noon: Program

12-1 p.m.: Lunch and discussion

The retreat will be led by acclaimed meditation teacher Jonathan Foust, a senior teacher at the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, cofounder of the Meditation Teacher Training Institute, and former president of Kripalu Center. He has been leading retreats and training teachers for more than 25 years and is the creator of the Year of Living Mindfully program.

If you have never heard Jonathan Foust speak, I encourage you to attend--he has a unique ability to offer the benefits of mindfulness with great clarity, wisdom, freshness, and humor.  You won't be disappointed!

Breakfast will be provided prior to the program which concludes at 12 noon. Participants are encouraged to stay for lunch and a discussion guided by Jonathan Foust plus an opportunity to get to know other attendees.

To register for the April 27th half day retreat, click here.

Hope to see you there!

Tim

[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Holding What Is: Sunday @ The Potter's House @ 6 pm

"Don't surrender your loneliness so quickly.
Let it cut more deep. Let it ferment and season you.
As few human or even divine ingredients can.
Something missing in my heart tonight
has made my eyes so soft, my voice, so tender...."
- Hafiz -
Dear Friends,

This week, we will continue to explore with practices that help us hold "what is", so that we can better connect with our true nature. When suffering is present, our own and that which is all around us, connecting with and holding "what is" can be difficult. Tools like the Tibetan practice of Tonglen meditation can support us. Sunday, March 3 from 6-7:30 pm at the Community Room of the Potter's House, we will meditate, practice Tonglen, and share in community.

The meeting space is wheelchair accessible. Chairs will be available, and please feel free to bring your own sitting gear if you prefer.

I look forward to being with you,
Linda
