From a friend with

We're looking to fill the master bedroom!
A large, sunny master bedroom with private bathroom. (Current resident says: "naked from bed to bath. #fullsizemirror #winning")
A separate nook is the perfect spot for a large desk, with an epic sunset window.
Two closets offer a lot of storage.

Who are you?
A couple who want to co-create a community with us.
You love our ad and are excited to meet with us, in the backyard over a beer.

More about us:
We have a house garden and a community garden plot
We share food/groceries and belong to two CSAs
We are friends. We have separate lives and different communities, but we definitely come home to laugh about our days together over a glass of wine
We regularly host events at the house (with pre-approval from the housemates) for the communities that we are involved in. Brunches, dinners, planning meetings, book clubs, small workshops
We bike commute (but love driving out of town to go camping!)
We love animals but don't have any and aren't accepting pets at this time

Send us an email and please include:
-Your lifestyle, your age, and current work.
-What you like about community living.
-What do you want in the place that you are looking to move into?

Choose 1 from this list:
-Hi/low/silly of your week
-What would constitute a perfect day for you?
-If you were stuck on a island, what three things would you bring with you?
-Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. WHAT DID YOU SAVE and why?
-If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

I thought this event might be of interest to the group, as we explore taking compassion "off the cushion" and into the world. This new book (release date is tomorrow) by His Holiness and Daniel Goleman (author of Emotional Intelligence) looks at "how to turn our compassionate energy outward." Details about the event, which will be held at the AU Kay Spiritual Life Center at 7:30 pm this Thursday, are available on the BuddhaFest.org home page.

[dcphp-dev] Symfony CMF experiences?

Is anyone using Symfony's CMF? (http://cmf.symfony.com/)

We currently offer clients a Wordpress site (from our Multi-project Wordpress installation) for their public site, and our Symfony site for their administrative access to our product.  The user permissions are causing us so much grief that I'm ready to swap out Wordpress.  The clients don't need much, mostly the ability to add/edit pages (with formatted text and images), and adjust their menu.

Wordpress makes all that easy, including drafts and private pages, and it appears Symfony CMF does as well.  But was hoping to find out of someone has actually used it.  Or has another suggestion on how to proceed.

Thanks!

Tac

[dcphp-dev] OT/[JOBS]: Ionic/Angular developer for mobile app

Any recommendations for someone who can provide a few hours / days to get our mobile app up and running?  We have a mostly working app, and a functional demo of login and authentication, and need to hook the two up together and publish it.

Any suggestions on where to look?  I've used upwork (formerly oDesk) in the past, and have a job posting there now, but have had mixed success with it.

I'd like to find someone in or near DC, sometimes face time (the real-world type) is enormously valuable, especially when getting APIs and such working.

Thanks,

Tac

Folks,

I apologize for sending this message to the group. While it's a great book that I recommend to everyone my invitation was meant for another group.

Thanks in advance for understanding.

Six or seven people in my condo should be cozy and comfortable, more than that means louder laughter that fits with the book's theme.  I'll have some snack food available so the walk up the street to our 6:30 meeting won't turn into the long march.

I'm thinking that having an overview discussion on Chapter 1 that includes occasional pauses for reflections listed in the section of the book is the way to go. I'm open to suggestion if folks want to try a different approach. We can talk more about the arrangements this Sunday after the meeting.

[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Summer BBQ: Sunday July 12 from 4 - 6 pm (3 blocks from the 6 pm Sunday night class)

Dear all,
Please save the date for Sunday July 12 to stop by my place before the Sunday night 6 pm class. My home is about 3 blocks away from the Church of the Holy City where the 6 pm class is held.  We can hang out on my roof top deck, which thankfully gets a lot of shade by 4 pm. If it rains, we can eat inside.

Where:  1605 S St. NW (open the main door of the row house and then my unit is the door on the left; the door to the right is my neighbor's)
When: 4 - 6 pm, Sunday July 12
What to bring:  Food (vegetarian) or drink to share
Why:  Summer!!!

Hope to see many of you there. Please RSVP if you plan to join us to give me a sense of how many people will be here.  But feel free to also just show up even if you didn't RSVP.

With metta,
Rebecca
