[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Friends, food and a fundraiser!

Dear Sangha Friends,

A friend and I are hosting a fundraiser for Prerana - a small school in Northeastern India that supports children with disabilities this Saturday, 15th September. I know that this is short notice, but we would love for you to join  us. The fundraiser is at my friend's Camille's place, and its likely to be a small gathering - so an opportunity to really make new friends and support a great cause.

Prerana provides education and vocational training to children with a range of disabilities such as visual and speech impairment, cerebral palsy and autism. The school currently has over 140 students, and provides residential facilities to 40 students who are visually impaired. The school has had a sudden withdrawal of donor funding, and we are trying to raise funds to ensure that the kids can continue to be in school. The founder/manager of the school is a friend of ours, and all proceeds will directly benefit the school.  I know that folks in DC are swamped with requests for support for causes- try walking down Dupont Circle. And even though this is a very small school, it is making a big and a real difference in the lives of several hundred children.
