Reminder: Let me know if you'd like to join for the buddha brunch this Saturday, and then I'll send directions to those attending.
-- If the reading seems daunting, don't let that deter you - just read the first two pages, or none at all, and you can still participate in the discussion! Just for some context, I chose the topic of "discernment" because I often struggle with finding the balance between wanting to bring certain things in my life, or being pro-active to make changes, without veering into the domain of grasping or clinging. I find it's a difficult space to navigate, and I think the only key is to develop skills of wisdom and discernment.
Hope to see many of you then,
Namaste,
Danya

Dear sangha friends,I'll be hosting the next buddha brunch, this coming Saturday, Nov 23, from 12-2 pm at my place in Adams Morgan I've selected the topic of "discernment" and chosen a reading from Thanissaro Bhikkhu (Ajahn Geoff) called the 10 Perfections, that draws on the Pali Canon and from the teachings of Ajaan Lee Dhammadharo. The document is quite long (don't get overwhelmed), but we'll just focus on the first section, p.1-11. http://www.dhammatalks.org/Archive/Writings/StudyGuides/ TheTenPerfections.pdf For those who haven't been before, this is a great opportunity gather with other folks from our sangha to deepen our practice and community. We generally gather over a potluck brunch, do a short guided meditation together, and then explore the reading. Bring a dish to share and an open heart. If you're interested in joining, please send me an email (danya.greenfield@gmail.com) by Thursday and I will send directions.Namaste,Danya
