[dcphp-dev] [job] PHP Web Application Developer

Our client, based in the DC metro area, is looking to hire a well versed start-up minded web application developer to work in support of building Federal Government / Department of Defense applications.

Our client is actively developing and delivering valuable RESTful API endpoints to their Federal Government customer that both expose various data resources and convert them into desired formats for report generation and other uses.

This position is full-time/permanent and offers a salary range of $70-90K/yr. US Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance existing RESTful API endpoints
  • Be able to take sliced mockups or verbal UI instructions and produce efficient UI/UXs
  • Be able to build and maintain database-driven web applications and have the ability to turn the basic CRUD operations into an enjoyable user experience.
  • Be able to stay on task and knock out priority features/bugs as identified by the customer (Just say "no" to feature creep)
  • Be able to rapidly build "proof-of-concept" applications as needed
  • Embrace open source technologies and demonstrate to clients why they are awesome
  • Continually learn emerging technologies and frameworks to broaden team knowledge

Position Requirements:

  • BS / MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Degree
  • US citizen (with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance)
  • Strong problem solving, debugging, and analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Job Skills:

  • Experience with REST APIs required (developing them or integrating with them)
  • Experience with PHP and PHP MVC frameworks required (preferred are Yii, CodeIgniter, CakePHP)
  • Experience with Java (including frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, GWT, Oracle) preferred
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript required
  • Experience with XML and JSON preferred
  • Experience with MySQL or Oracle is required
  • Experience with NoSQL database (such as MongoDB) would be nice
  • jQuery, Apache, Agile development, Ruby on Rails experience is a plus
  • Objective C (iPhone, iPad, iOS development) and Android development a plus
  • Graphics Design or UI/UX specialties is a plus
