Washington, DC – The Prince George's County Council, on

Tuesday, Oct. 9, 9:45 a.m., will present a proclamation to the Human Services Coalition (HSC) of Prince George's County, as the organization launched the first ever Nonprofit Awareness Week in the Washington Metropolitan area. Nonprofit Awareness Week, Oct. 8-12, will raise community awareness of the essential community services nonprofits provide, including shelters for the homeless, suicide hotlines, free food distribution, after school programs, job training and jobs. County Executive Rushern Baker, County Council Chair Andrea Harrison, and William Shipp, Chair, Board of Directors, Community Foundation of Prince George's County, are serving as the Honorary co-chairs.

The Human Services Coalition, based in Landover, Md., has encouraged its 100-plus members to host community activities during Nonprofit Awareness Week to educate the public about services available and resources needed.
