[Mission of Love] Emergency preparedness tips: Make ice for your coolers and fill your tub with water + 311 Phone numbers + Power Outage Info

You probably know all the power outage tips to prepare for a storm; just a couple of more to make sure you are ready if your power or water is shut off. The tub of water is recommended to be able to flush the toilet. Scary thought, actually...not being able to flush. :/

Also, a few 311 numbers to access the DMV Government Customer Service Call Centers - for future reference

Power Outage information for Pepco & BGE:

Report Outages Immediately

Pepco is committed to providing reliable electric service to all our customers. Sometimes, however, power outages do occur. If the your power goes out, Pepco asks that you report it immediately to the 24-hour emergency line below. Our automated outage reporting line is available 24 hours a day. It transmits your report immediately to Pepco's Outage Management System so investigation and repair can be scheduled as soon as possible.

24-Hour Outage Report Line - 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662)

We regret that we cannot respond to outages reported by e-mail. Please do not dial 911 for outage information or to report power outages.

Report Downed Wires Immediately

Storms or other events can knock down electrical wires or damage other electrical equipment on Pepco's system. These are dangerous situations, and Pepco asks that you report all downed wires and life- threatening emergencies to the following emergency line:

202-872-3432 All
TTY: 202-872-2369

Downed Wires Are Dangerous

You should never approach, touch or attempt to move downed power lines or trees or other items that have fallen on them. Even if the line looks "dead," it could still be carrying electricity and could cause serious injury. Keep children and pets safely away from any downed wires or damaged electrical equipment.
