The Mission of Love Charities honored four in Prince George’s County who have made significant contributions to the community during the 13th Annual Decatur “Bucky” Trotter Humanitarian Awards Reception on May 18, 2017. The recipient of the Decatur “Bucky” Trotter Humanitarian Award was Gloria Lawlah, CEO, Senior Family Supports, LLC. Recipients of the Candle of Service Award were Judge Herman C. Dawson Sr., Prince George’s County Seventh Circuit Court; James M.H. Estepp, president & CEO, Prince George’s County Business Roundtable; and David C. Harrington, president & CEO, Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce.
In accepting her award, Ms. Lawlah thanked MOLC for all the years of service rendered to Prince George’s County, and said, “Those of us who don’t need the services that you provide need to support you in what you are doing.”
Mr. Estepp said, “This county has given me so many opportunities, and for almost a million people, there is a different story out there for every individual, but for me, it’s all about service and helping those who are in need. There’s not an organization that I know of that does it better than the Mission of Love Charities.
Judge Dawson acknowledged the work that all of the other honorees have done in the community. “I live and work and play in Prince George’s County and believe it is the greatest county in the country,” said Judge Dawson. “I thank the Mission of Love for the work that you do here and I stand ready, willing and able to assist in any way I can.”
Mr. Harrington said, “In some ways, we must put the Mission of Love Charities out of business because if we do that we know that we have done our job and that everyone in Prince George’s County has a home, has a job, has food to eat, and has access to healthcare.
