Join us at the Lamont Dharma House for the Young Adult Sangha and/or the Dharma Talk "Opening to Joy in our Practice" by Luisa Montero, Thursday, June 22 at 7 p.m. No need to register for either. More information below. Thanks!
Coming up at Lamont Dharma House Young Adult Sangha Saturday, June 17, 2017 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Are you curious to learn about meditation with a group of young people? Are you a young adult craving a community of meditators and mindfulness practitioners that are going through similar life experiences? Want to try meditating with others? Led by three facilitators, the IMCW-affiliated Young Adult Sangha offers the opportunity to build a community of like-minded spiritual friends in the same time of life. We will have a guided meditation, activities to deepen our practice, and the opportunity to build connections through unguided social time at the end with tea and snacks. The group is for anyone between 19 and 39 who wants to take part in a conscious, mindful community. It's open to all young adults and welcomes all people regardless of heritage, sexual orientation, or disability/illness. Dates: June 17, July 15 and August 19, 2017, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The Sangha is on a donation basis, in the tradition of dana (generosity). If you have questions about this Sangha, please contact Hannah. Dharma Talk: Opening to Joy in Our Practice Thursday, June 22, 2017 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Joy can be overlooked as an integral part of the spiritual journey. The First Noble Truth says that there is suffering in life. As much as this truth must be seen and acknowledged, this path points to the fact that suffering is not enough. The Dalai Lama points out that the purpose of life is to see and experience beauty, goodness and joy. In these times of stress and complexity, it is easy to forget our deepest intentions. It is easy to get so caught up that we fail to see moments of beauty and joy. Join Luisa Montero for an exploration of joy and how we might let joy take its rightful place on and off the cushion by turning toward, encouraging, and bringing it to life. The session will include silent meditation, a dharma talk, and a brief time Q and A. If you arrive late please wait to enter until the meditation has ended. Here's more information on Ms. Luisa Montero. This event is free and open to the public, but we encourage people to give dana (donation) to support the teachers and the space. The suggested donation for this event is $10-15. | | Our weekly schedule Lamont Dharma House offers various yoga and meditation practices throughout the week. Visit our website for our weekly schedule and calendar of events. All classes and events are available on a donation basis in the Buddhist tradition of dana (the Pali word for "generosity"). Please bring a yoga mat or meditation cushion. | | | | |
