We are a small business located in Largo, MD, currently with 17 employees.  We estimate that the bookkeeping duties would take approximately 8-10 hours per week.

The perfect bookkeeper would need to be professional, trustworthy, have a strong bookkeeping and/or accounting background, attention to detail, knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, strong numerical abilities, working proficiency with Quickbooks, a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and strong work ethic.  CPA is a plus.

Responsibilities would include:   recording financial transactions (such as checks written and received); managing accounts payable and receivable; reconciling bank statements; updating the trial balance, profit-and-loss statement and balance sheet; managing payroll; invoicing clients; making federal and state tax deposits; and completing annual tax forms, such as W-2s and 1099s.
