[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Fwd: Interested in Dharma and Helping Animals?

Hello Friends,

I am reaching out in the hopes of finding others who are interested in both dharma and helping animals. I am the new local Chapter Leader for an international organization called Dharma Voices for Animals (http://dharmavoicesforanimals.org/), which is committed to being a voice for non-human animals within dharma communities. Often, dharma teachers teach about the importance of awakening compassion for all sentient beings without any mention of compassion for non-human animals and what that means. We strive to bring this awareness more to the fore in dharma community conversations about compassion, engaged dharma, and sacred activism.

I hope to create a community in the DC metro area of people who are interested in dharma and helping animals and see where that leads. It will likely start with just a few people and hopefully grow bigger.

I am hosting our first chapter meeting this Sunday, April 9 from 2-4pm at my home. If you are interested and available to join, we would love to have you. Just let me know. Snacks and tea will be provided.

Best wishes,
Alex
