Job Description:
The LEAD PHP Engineer is responsible for the enhancement and support of the customer-facing web applications. The successful candidate will participate in the development of this application, become versed in the features of the product and work with the development team to build a high quality product. This position requires communication with Product Management to understand end-user requirements and with Quality Assurance to design and develop automated, end-to-end test capability.
Job Duties of the Senior PHP Developer:
● Assume role as lead developer for team.
● Research, identify and utilize appropriate tools, libraries, frameworks, and languages to solve problems and deliver results using the most effective methods.
● Implement high quality, scalable features.
● Document functionality of software, including public APIs.
● Write and maintain appropriate unit and integration test suites.
● Participate in project estimation and scoping exercises.
● Work effectively to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
● Keep abreast of new technologies and apply appropriately to business problems.
Experience and Skills of the Senior Software Engineer:
● Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent and 7+ years of experience in same areas
● A solid understanding of agile development specifically the SCRUM framework
● Proven working knowledge of the LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) architecture.
● Proven experience in PHP and web application development
● Proven experience managing a small development team, leading SCRUM
● Solid understanding of web protocols, markup languages, and scripting languages including but not limited to: HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, Web-Services (using SOAP and REST) Good
● knowledge of relational databases, specifically MySQL
● A basic understanding of AWS or similar cloud based infrastructure
● Strong analytical skills and knowledge of Object Oriented Programming
● Solid debugging capabilities
● Ability to multi-task, to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and to perform under stress to deliver on committed timelines with a keen focus on driving high quality results
● Strong problem solving and analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to assimilate new information, understand complex topics and arrive at sound analysis and judgment
● Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
● Excellent problem solving skills, must be able to think "outside the box"
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
● Self-motivated, passionate, and hard working with the ability to perform at a fast pace with minimal supervision
