The 2012 election was a wake-up call about how quickly the face of America is changing and the political power of our new demographics.  Earlier this week, President Obama shined a spotlight on the plight of struggling American families during his inaugural address to the nation.  A growing chorus of advocates, policymakers, and economists believe that the nation's spiking racial and income inequality puts our economy at risk, and that equity is now an economic imperative in addition to a moral one.

The conversation must now shift to policy: What is the winning policy agenda to grow our nation's economy in a way that works for everyone, including the communities of color who are the emerging majority? What strategies can create good jobs and economic opportunities for those who have been left behind?

Please join PolicyLink and the Service Employees International Union for a half-day convening to explore on-the-ground solutions, policy strategies, and movement building needed for an equitable economy.

Earlier this month, the following event speakers were announced: Angela Glover Blackwell, PolicyLink; Mary Kay Henry, SEIU; Ai-jen Poo, National Domestic Workers Alliance; and William E. Spriggs, AFL-CIO.

We are pleased to announce the addition of:

  • Denise Fairchild, Emerald Cities Collaborative
  • Benjamin Jealous, NAACP
  • Luz Vega-Marquis, Marguerite Casey Foundation

Many people have signed up to attend this event. Reserve your spot today.
