We at the POLITICO Technology Team are looking for some great people that love web development to join us.

You have will have the opportunity to develop something that will be viewed by millions of people, within minutes.
We are currently seeking a Lead PHP Web Developer (LAMP) with working knowledge of MySQL for a full time position located in Arlington, VA.
This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate who will help us move from our current system written in ColdFusion over to PHP. The selected candidate will not only help technically, but also work to mentor other developers in PHP.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Acting as a team lead/resident expert in PHP
- Hands on development of new projects and maintaining existing media related applications
- Testing/debugging code
- Helping review code for security issues and best practices
- Helping streamline our development process
- Turning verbal or written requirements into functional applications
Qualifications:
Candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in PHP 5+, including advanced OOP techniques, API creation and management, and experience in MySql or other database technologies. Candidate must also have working knowledge of jQuery, HTML/CSS, Apache and Linux. Word Press, Drupal, Cassandra and MongoDB are all pluses.
ColdFusion experience is not necessary.
Candidate must be an effective communicator, be well organized, and possess the ability to work in a fast paced news based environment.
