[Mission of Love] Fwd: Because of you, we've done some pretty amazing things this year. Check out the news on where your contributions have helped our community.

Thank you to our staff for supporting the Life Skills Work Readiness Program (LSWRP), especially Maryrose Lyles and Joycelyn West for all their hard work.  One of our graduates was highlighted in last month's newsletter (see below).

Dear Sheri,

Wow — they're here. And what a story they have to tell.

Our end of the year grant reports have arrived. These are the reports written by our member nonprofits to tell us how the Community Impact Grants they have received from United Way NCA have changed people's lives. Here's a few of their stories:

E. enrolled in the Life Skills Program offered by Mission of Love Charities, and the skills he acquired through that program have not only helped him maintain a job, but also earn two "Employee of the Month" awards.

G., a dialysis patient, received a grant from The National Kidney Foundation Serving the National Capital Area so that he could continue to pay his electric bills when his family was faced with significant financial difficulties.

And Northern Virginia Family Service helped Ms. R. receive treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder following a long history of abuse. Since then, she has found a job in a profession she always dreamed of, and has regained confidence.

These are just a few of the stories from the more than 190,000 individuals helped by our grant supported programs throughout the region. All these grants are made possible by our donors. These stories — and many more — wouldn't be possible without your support.

At this time next year, I'll be sending out an email just like this one. The stories will be different - but United Way and our member nonprofits will still be there for individuals in our area struggling to make ends meet, or to get proper health care, or to get the education or training they need to break out of a bad situation.

Give for Good

Please make a donation today, by Giving for Good or Giving a Good this holiday season. You can either make a financial gift to United Way NCA, or donate goods in support of holiday drives at area nonprofits.

We hope everyone in our community has a happy and safe year. However, for those who will face hardship, let's continue to Live United by providing them the resources they will need for hope, and a way out.

Sincerely,

Rhonda Small
