Hello sangha friends. Wanted to let some great Buddhists know that we have a SMALL bedroom available for rent in our Columbia Heights apartment available March 1st and are hoping to find a kind, compatible person to join us.
The people: We are one queer woman in her late twenties, one straight woman in her mid 20s and one small cat. One is an EPA worker and the other an educator and server. We are very active women, but low key at home. We are committed to a safe, homey environment where we talk openly, laugh easily, and support one another. We both love to cook and our house is on a shared grocery bill system that is both economical, convenient, and affordable. We have a shared cleaning schedule and let each other know when we are having friends over (which is usually a couple times a week). We often host friends from out of town to crash on the couch and enjoy shared time together, when we can make it happen. We are committed to low energy and water use, recycling, organic and environmentally friendly products.
The house: The house is a 2 level row house. There is a studio unit on the bottom floor that is separate from our unit and we are friendly with our downstairs neighbors. The shared first floor of our apartment has a large living/dining room and a great fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher. Washer/dryer is located in the unit on this floor as well. There is a small back porch. The second floor has our bedrooms and bathrooms.
The location: We are in Columbia Heights about 15 minutes from both the Columbia Heights and U Street Metro stops and close to many bus lines. 2 blocks from Banneker Public Pool for summertime swim fun. It's awesome.
Details on the room: $550 per month plus shared utilities (typically ~$100); Move in date: March 1, 2017. Room is small (9x8), fits a twin bed and bookshelf with a small closet, and shares a full bathroom with one other queer woman roomie. One window faces Sherman Ave, NW.
