Hello friends. Join us at the Lamont Dharma House for some great events, and help us spread the word.
We have the monthly Youth Sangha this weekend.
As for our July Thursday Dharma talk and meditation, Kristin Barker will be leading a sit and talk on awakening sacred bellowing. Also, Ofosu, new to the Lamont Dharma House but not new to teaching, will be leading a "You are Enough" talk in August. Details are below. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions.

Young Adult Sangha meeting this Saturday

Are you curious to learn about meditation with a group of younger people? Are you between the ages of 19 and 39 and craving a community of meditators and mindfulness practitioners going through similar life experiences? Want to try meditating with others?

Led by three facilitators, the Insight Meditation of Washington (IMCW)-affiliated Young Adult Sangha offers the opportunity to build a community of like-minded spiritual friends in the same time of life. We will have a guided meditation, activities to deepen our practice, and the opportunity to build connections through unguided social time at the end with tea and snacks.

The group is for anyone between 19 and 39 who wants to take part in a conscious, mindful community. It's open to all young adults and welcomes and encourages all people to join regardless of heritage, sexual orientation, or disability/illness.

Come join us on Saturday, July 15, 2017, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

The sangha is on a donation basis, in the tradition of dana (generosity). If you have questions, please contact Hannah.

Awakening Sacred Belonging dharma talk

Can the dharma help us understand how we fragment our inherent belonging? In our families, communities and societies, even within our own hearts, we construct a notion of "other" and then go about the business of using, excluding, and even exploiting.

This same dynamic is at the root of so much of our individual and collective suffering, including racism and climate change. What healing is possible when we see through this delusion and, without making the mistake of transcendence into "oneness," reclaim the sacred belonging that includes the all of all beings? How might such an understanding inform the way we practice on our cushions and create change in the world around us?

Join Kristin Barker, Director and Co-Founder of One Earth Sangha, on Thursday, July 20 at the Lamont Dharma House Sangha for an evening exploring the wisdom and practices that awaken our sacred belonging. The session will begin with a period of silent meditation, then the dharma talk and afterwards brief time for Q and A.

Come join us Thursday, July 20, 2017 7 – 8:30 p.m.

The suggested donation for this event is $10-15.

You Are Enough dharma talk

Turning love and compassion towards oneself can be extremely challenging given the messages that we receive both at home and in our wider society. In the context of a culture that often reinforces what we lack, it can be easy to create a subtle perspective that sees ourselves as "not enough."

Conversely, the desire to be some form of a permanent good, while our bodies and minds are in a state of constant change, can create the conditions for deep suffering. It is important to learn and know that you are enough.

In this sit and discussion with mindfulness teacher Ofosu Jones-Quartey, we will examine the attitudes that we harbor about ourselves that lead to suffering. We will look at ways that we can observe our lives with wisdom and compassion to overcome our self-doubt and negative self-perceptions in order to bring forth true happiness from within.

The session will include silent meditation, a dharma talk, and a brief time Q and A.

Come join us Thursday, August 24, 2017 7 – 8:30 p.m.

The suggested donation for this event is $10-15.
