Re: [dcphp-dev] Hosting is good until it becomes bad...

While this list is not exhaustive, and doesn't say much about the quality of the company, it is very handy to help ensure you get a reasonable version of PHP.

http://phpversions.info/

A lot of folks have listed VPS, cloud VMs, and similar options, which are usually the best bet for SSH access. Digital Ocean is one that is well loved by a lot of folks in the PHP community.

I'm currently using a shared hosting solution that is a rather good deal, though SSH is extra and I do not currently have that option turned on.

Anyway, if you'd like to check them out: http://iclickandhost.com/

((They're not listed as having PHP 7 in the above list, but they do have it. 7.0.3 in fact.

They also offer earlier version. As far as I can tell, it's per account, but you can hotswap at any time through the control panel.

Colleagues: I may need a new hosting company.  Low volume, personal space, with room to experiment from time-to-time.  Something with command line access would be nice.  FTP in and out.  Virtual is OK, do not need anything dedicated.  The host should have a little knowledge of PHP to understand why the error_log matters, for example.

Any recommendations or outfits to avoid?  Thanks, Ray
