Triple Canopy is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to create web-enabled applications to facilitate the capture and reporting of operational and departmental information for the company. The Sr. Software Engineer's role is to design, execute, assess, and troubleshoot software programs and applications. This includes configuring, coding, developing, and documenting software specifications throughout the project life cycle. The Software Engineer will also oversee system startups in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide support to other departments where required. Maintain and support core system applications, primarily in PHP on Linux/Apache. Work with management to analyze user requirements, design and develop web/database applications. Primary responsibilities include writing requirements when needed, designing and implementing web based applications primarily in PHP, provide time estimates for tasks. Candidate should be a self starter who can lead cross functional teams to collaborate in development projects. In this role you will provide Web-based and script-based PHP software development. Assist in the integration Triple of Canopy's critical business applications and participate in the overall enterprise data architecture schema Position Responsibilities • Software design, development and test with PHP on Linux systems • Collaborate with analysts and designers in the development and initiation of new software programs and applications • Oversee the quality assurance of program logic, data processing, and error resolution • Develop and suggest programming and design alternatives • Interact regularly with managers, clients, vendors, and agencies to field queries and answer questions • Research, document, and implement program requirements and specifications • Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications • Run and monitor performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application development best practices • Gather statistics and prepare and write reports on the status of the programming process for discussion with management and/or team members • Determine, develop, and maintain user manuals and guidelines • Be able to take initiative and work collaboratively to complete tasks • Report on project progress status and metrics as required • Demonstrated ability to do rapid prototyping of applications and interfaces • Development experience on Linux systems. For consideration, candidates should have: • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent • Must be customer service driven • 5 years experience in web based software development with at least 1 year of solid PHP as the primary development language • Must be able to articulate knowledge of general PHP syntax and usage • 5 years experience in database application development • Have the ability to hold a Secret Clearance

Desired skills: • Experience with Linux bash and shell scripting a plus • Strong SQL knowledge, preferably with MySQL or Postgres and/or MS SQL experience developing with PHP, HTML, Javascript, and CSS, in a Linux environment • Experience with various other languages a plus, such as C/C++ • Database administration experience • PHP, Linux, MySQL, Postgres or MSSQL Certifications • Experience in integrating applications, ERP, Human Resources, Finance, Logistics and other enterprise applications • Understanding of Lawson and Deltek a plus • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Apply here: http://tinyurl.com/TC-Reston-PHP-Dev Triple Canopy values diversity and its impact on a high performance culture.
