[Downtown Dharma Listserve] The Wisdom of the Herd The Unity of the Downtown Dharma Sangha: A Day of Mindfulness and Horses

As I announced last night in the Sangha, a date has been set for the Downtown Dharma and friends activity, The Wisdom of the Herd The Unity of the Sangha: A Day of Mindfulness and Horses.  This link will take you to the video of images from past retreats, which will show you what the retreat will be like:

Date:  Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 8:30a-4:30p

Description:  Meditation and horses each provides a conduit to experience the moment as it is and to see ourselves and the world around us through the eyes of peace, loving kindness, and non-judgment.  This unique and nourishing experience will include:

  • -       standing, walking and seated insight meditation
  • -       dharma talk
  • -       quiet observation of the herd
  • -       interactive individual and collaborative experientials with the horses

 

Sliding Scale Dana: $45 minimum donation to Awakened Heart Sanctuary.  Any donation above $45 goes to Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW)

   

Bring Bag Lunch.  Beverages and Vegetarian Snacks Will Be Provided.

Facilitators:  The retreat will be conducted by Ashley Nunn is a certified yoga instructor and has been teaching since 2004, with assistance by IMCW Downtown Dharma Sangha members. Ashley is a lifelong equestrian and an equine-assisted therapist. She began practicing Vipassana meditation in 1999.

 

Location:  The Farm is located at 40414 Lovettesville Rd, Lovettesville, VA. We will begin at 9:00, with arrival time between 8:30 and 9:00.

Farm Mission:  Awakened Heart Sanctuary (formerly Sunny Day Stables and Events) is a cooperative horse boarding facility offering inspiring and rejuvenating yoga, mindfulness and equine-assisted activities and retreats, while also providing affordable boarding and sanctuary for rescued horses.
