[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Housing available 6/1

Sangha Place - Park View / Petworth

We are an intentional community.  We are a shared-living group-house in Park View and we are looking for someone new to join us.  Our community was founded on Buddhist principles (hence the name), but being a practicing Buddhist is not a requirement for living here.

We have a small 2nd floor bedroom available for $602 a month plus a one-month security deposit.  Move in would be June 1st. Though there are three women living in the house, we are very open to anyone interested in moving in!

Our beautiful home is located in Park View (just south of Petworth) near the Georgia Ave-Petworth Green/Yellow Metro Stop with a nice front porch and a backyard perfect for vegetable growing and bbqs.

What we wish to continue building

We are committed to putting our values into practice. Such values include respect, compassion, flexibility, and especially open communication.  We enjoy a clean, quiet (not all the time, though), but decidedly safe and welcoming living environment.  We value diversity and welcome those of varying race, ethnicity, class, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, cultural background, and all the rest.  We understand that group living is fundamentally often about personal compromise in order to achieve group harmony.

Who we are

We are three individuals with varying spiritual and intellectual practices. We are in our 20s/30s.  We foster a community that supports strong, mature individuals with lives of our own but who bring something to our community every day. We practice open, dispassionate, self-aware communication.  Importantly, we share meals, house budgets - including utilities and groceries - and cleaning responsibilities.

We enjoy laughing, dancing it up, good company, fostering positive energy, singing, gathering, running, working on projects, creating, gardening, outdoor adventuring, knitting, reading, listening to the cosmic vibrations, biking, cooking, baking, sitting, practicing yoga, and honing our environmental and social consciousness. We also hope you enjoyed that long sentence.

If you're interested in building a home with us, please e-mail: SanghaPlace@gmail.com
