[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche in DC

Hello dharma friends!

I wanted to spread the word about a precious opportunity to receive teachings from a great Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.

The topic of Rinpoche's teachings will be "Relating with the Wisdom and Power of Emotions."

The teachings will be held at Friends Meeting of Washington D.C. (2111 Florida Ave NW Washington D.C. 20008) on Friday May 29th 7 – 9PM and Saturday May 30th 9am – 5pm.

More information about the teachings and Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche below:

Rinpoche's teachings on emotions complement Western psychology and are easily understood by Western practitioners. This program is open to everyone.

Instead of stopping or indulging in strong emotions like anger, anxiety, or fear, we can explore them, giving ourselves time to feel their texture and observe our experience, as it is, and recognize that their basic nature is wisdom.
In this program, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche will share his unique insights into emotions and will teach a step-by-step process for working more skillfully with them. By learning to do this, we can connect with their creative source to experience a new level of relaxed openness, freshness, even a sense of clarity and joy, that we can then very naturally begin to share with others. There will be an interactive workshop Saturday afternoon to explore practical perspectives and methods for putting these teachings into everyday life, whether of a business or personal nature.

The founder and president of Nalandabodhi, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, is a leading Buddhist teacher in North America and an advocate of American and Western Buddhism. A lover of music, art and urban culture, Rinpoche is a poet, an avid photographer, an accomplished calligrapher and visual artist, as well as a prolific author. Rinpoche is fluent in English and well-versed in Western culture and technology. He is also the founder of Nitartha International, a non-profit educational corporation dedicated to preserving the contemplative literature of East Asia.

Blessings!
Alex
