[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Re: Volunteering for the Anacostia Watershed Society Cleanup- April 25

Happy Spring, everyone!  Would you like to get outside and contribute to the efforts to improve out local environment?  Please consider joining several of us who will be volunteering with the Anacostia Watershed Society Cleanup on April 25.

FYI- There has been a change in location for our plans.  We will be working at the Quincy Run site (not Colmar Manor).  We changed location because they had a greater need for volunteers at the Quincy Run location.  The Quincy Run site is in Cheverly, MD, a bit further east and south from Colmar Manor.  It is also accessible by public transit, but we are trying to coordinate rides so that no one has to take unfamilar public transit early on Saturday morning.

If you want to join our group from the Downtown Dharma for the cleanup, please go to the following website to register and under group name list "downtown dharma":

Also, please send me an email, letting me know that you've registered (so I'll be on the lookout for you), and if relevant, if you'd like to rideshare to the Quincy Run site.  I'm trying to connect people who have cars with people who would like a ride.

All my best,  Amy

Dear sangha members,

Please let me know if you would like to volunteer to help with the Anacostia Watershed Society Cleanup on April 25.  I'm in touch with a very enthusiastic and seemingly well-organized site leader who is helping coordinate the Dueling Creek site clean up in Colmar Manor, MD.   Here are some of the relevant details:
Location and time: The meeting spot will be at the Colmar Manor Town Hall at approximately 9 am, April 25. The clean up is scheduled from 9 am-noon. (There are two groups meeting at the town hall. We'll be doing the Dueling Creek Clean up, which is led by Fran Toler.) There is a celebratory picnic from noon - 2pm at the Bladensburg Waterfront park if you'd like to do that, too.
Transport: There are several people who are interested who have cars and can offer rides. It is also possible to get to the City Hall by public transit. From the Dupont area, you would take the red line to the Rhode Island Ave. Station and then the T18 bus to 38th and Bladensburg Road. But based on the number of people with cars who offered to carpool, I don't think it will be necessary for any one to attempt to use a new public transit route early on a Saturday morning.
