I'd like to thank everyone from the Downtown Dharma listserv who came out to our latest volunteer day with St. Stephen's Loaves and Fishes and those of you who showed up a few Fridays ago in the cold to hold candles on 16th Street to sustain the dialogue about the excessive use of force in African American communities.
In looking forward to the New Year, it's been suggested that we consider other volunteer opportunities. So I'd like to see if people have ideas or suggestions for where we might volunteer. One place I will look into is Hands On Dc, an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that organizes projects to improve the physical condition of Washington, DC public schools.
I'll try to identify a couple of places in the next few weeks and get feedback from those of you who might be interested in participating.
