If you have a few minutes to spare, I hope you will share your thoughts on guide for first time job seekers who are majoring in computer science or related fields. The goal of this is to give them an idea of how they can better package themselves for their first internship or job interview. I am involved in the college career advising efforts of several local colleges and have noticed a lot of people are having trouble with this stuff - especially students graduating from local colleges without great advising teams. One common thing that I see is that they are assuming that because they took a class and did an in class exercise that they are "experienced" only to get shot down before they get a chance to interview with a company that would otherwise like to hire them.
Ideally, please direct feedback to the comments on the blog post. I am also looking for topics to cover on the SortIQ.com blog which is going to be focused around entry level and software industry career topics for the foreseeable future. Suggestions are desired. Thanks in advance!
