[dcphp-dev] [job] - Mid- to Senior-Level PHP & Frontend Developer

Fathom Creative is a dynamic, creative agency anchored in DC's 14th Street Corridor. Recently named DC's 2010 Agency of the Year by the DC/Baltimore Egotist and featured in the July 2011 issue of HOW magazine, we've helped our clients nail mission-critical deliverables in their branding, marketing, communications, and sales efforts and have executed solutions that have had a real, positive impact on their business. Over the past 17 years, we've seated ourselves as one of the premier interactive agencies in the Mid-Atlantic, spanning commercial, nonprofit and government sectors—thanks to our talented and inspiring team.

Mid- to Senior-Level  PHP & Frontend Developer

A senior PHP & frontend developer should be expert at reviewing goals and requirements for a given client project, then recommending the appropriate tools for the job—whether it be a specific CMS (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, PrestaShop, etc.), a framework or a custom build. With experience advising, developing and deploying projects of all sizes, this person is comfortable in both making progress solo and working with a team of developers (and designers) of various skill level and expertise.

Is this you? If yes, you're likely annoyed by every CMS on the market (even if you have favorites), because they aren't developed exactly how you would have developed them. You keep thinking you should just build your own, but never find the time between paying jobs. You know PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript inside and out—enough to mentor developers around you on best practices, in addition to handling your own production tasks. You probably attend and speak at tech meetups. If this is still familiar, then read on…

MINIMUM REQUIRED

·       3+ years PHP development experience (or equivalent, with the last 2+ years being PHP) with strong Object-oriented design skills

·       1+ years developing extensions for any of of the above-mentioned CMSes

·       Adhere to best coding practices; understand OOP and MVC concepts

·       Expert at assembling complex MySQL queries, MySQL Optimization and database design

·       Expert JavaScript, AJAX and JQuery

·       Ability to develop frontends in HTML5 and CSS3

·       Experience with SCM source control systems (Git or SVN preferred)

·       Managed and/or mentored junior developers

·       Microscopic attention to detail + efficiency

·       Comfortable working on Unix based platforms

·       Excellent communication skills

ADDED BONUS

·       JavaScript & CSS based animation

·       Comfortable in Photoshop

·       Design experience/portfolio

·       Experience gathering and developing Functional Requirements

·       LAMP Server Administration

·       Past/Active open source code contributions (whether core, extension or QA)

·       Mobile Development (Objective C or Java)

·       Development with PHP Frameworks (Zend, CakePHP, Symfony, CodeIgniter, etc)

Respond with a cover letter, resume and URL to an online portfolio that makes us drool. This is for a full-time salaried or long-term, full-time contracted position. Local candidates only, or willingness to relocate and work primarily on-site. Pay scale commensurate to experience.

All applications should be submitted to jointheteam@fathomcreative.com, unless otherwise noted. No phone calls or unexpected walk-ins, please. We'd like to schedule your much-deserved handshake!
