[Downtown Dharma Sangha Listserv] Tonight at Downtown Dharma: Transforming Our Suffering in the Moment

Whether you are new to meditation or practicing for decades, this might have happened to you: Sit down to meditate, perhaps as our daily routine, inspired by some new teaching, the promises of deep practice, or as part of long retreat, and, full of motivation and intention, but we find that we are unable to remain in the moment. The mind is off, entangled in some drama, ensnared by self-judgement, or removed altogether into a recounting of our favorite movie. Anywhere but here. We might emerge at the end of the sit with a measure of frustration, the sense that it's all gone so wrong. Welcome! Your experience is fully part of the practice and integral to the path of liberation.

Join us this evening at Downtown Dharma where we'll explore the Five Hindrances, one of the most helpful of the Buddha's lists to understand, even to memorize, and to put to use not only on the cushion, but everywhere in daily life.
I hope to see you there!

With appreciation,
Kristin
