[Downtown Dharma Listserve] 8-week class: Cultivating True Love: Mindfulness and Relationships (Sept- Nov) with Kaira Jewel

Please forward:

8-week class: Cultivating True Love: Mindfulness and Relationships

  • W
    ednesdays, September 27-November 29
  •
  • (No class October 11 and November 22)

  • In order to build a mindful, healthy culture, we must create strong, loving and lasting relationships in our family and community. In this 8-week class series, we explore how we can cultivate true love and bring mindfulness into all of our relationships, whether our relationships with ourselves, a partner, within our family, with friends, in our workplace or community.

  • We will study each of the 4 elements of True Love for 2 weeks: loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity or inclusiveness. In the first week, we focus on how to practice this element towards ourselves and in the second week, how we can practice it with others. Each class will include a guided meditation, a teaching, interactive activities, and time for discussion and sharing.

  • Participation is limited to 18 people maximum as the class aims to build community and emphasizes deepening connection between all participants. Therefore in each class there will be time for each person who wishes to either present on some aspect of their own journey in relationships or take part in the Hot Seat game, which involves answering questions from other participants (posed with kindness, curiosity and respect) so we can get to know each person better.

  • The course will include a focus on mindful communication (deep listening and loving speech), as well as journaling, creative practices of arts and crafts, writing love letters, practices for reconciling conflict,
    including
     mindful movement and walking meditation.
