[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Daylong Meditation this Saturday

Dear friends,

Below please find info on a day long silent retreat (sitting/walking/sitting/etc.) this Saturday.  It's free; some dana if you have it to contribute to tea and snacks at day's end is appreciated but not necessary.

We're going to do these monthly on the first Saturday of each month, if you can't make this month but are interested in the future.

All classes and events are on a donation basis, in the tradition of dana (generosity).

Meditation

Daylong Meditation
Saturday, April 2, from 10am-5:30pm; see below for more detail.

Morning Meditation
Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:30-8:15am.

Evening Meditation
Tuesdays at 9pm and Thursdays at 7:30pm.

Yoga

Mixed-Level Dharma Yoga
Monday (Emily) and Wednesday (Aqeel) at 6:45-8:15pm.

Sunday (sub) at 10:30am-12pm.

Please bring a mat.

Yoga Nidra
Monday (Emily) at 8:15-9pm.

Please bring a mat.

Kirtan
Sunday at noon.

More Information on Saturday Daylong Meditation

On Saturday, April 2 we will host our third daylong meditation retreat.

- We will observe the age old tradition of "noble silence" from 10:00 am until 5:30 pm, so prepare yourself to relish in the spaciousness of quietude!

- Please bring your own cushion, mat, bench, blankets, etc for sitting if you would like… we have a limited number to share.

- There will be an hour and a half lunch break, during which we will also hold silence.  We suggest you bring your own lunch.
 
- No problem if you can only make it for a portion of the day. However, to maintain a solid container for the practice, we ask folks to commit to at least the full morning (before lunch) or full afternoon (after lunch) period.

- This daylong will not include meditation instructions, a time to deepen in your existing practice.

10:15-11:00 sitting meditation
11:00-11:45 walking meditation
11:45-12:30 sitting meditation

12:30-2:00 Lunch (in silence)

2:00-2:45 Sit
2:45-3:30 Walk
3:30-4:15 Sit
4:15-4:45 Walk
4:45-5:30 Sit
5:30-6:30 Tea and Conversation
