Dear Dharma friends,
Wishing you well as can be this weekend. Last Sat afternoon, I had the pleasure of guiding a sit at Kenilworth Gardens, looking out across the blossoming lotus ponds. There are still two more opportunities to sit amongst the flowers (with Kristin on Aug 16 and with Mark on Aug 31), and to offer you a little encouragement, we'll be inspired by the lotus flower this Sunday night.
The lotus is revered in Buddhism and many East Asian traditions for representing purity, resilience and enlightenment, and appears over and over in Buddhist art and iconography. The way the lotus grows is also a metaphor for our ability to rise above the suffering of muddy samsara, and for the mind to fully open and awaken. Join us this Sunday night for mindfulness in community, to see the lotus in ourselves, and to encourage the opening of our minds and hearts.
