Re: [Downtown Dharma Sangha Listserv] This weekend: An introduction to Insight Dialogue

Thanks, Vince! I'm super excited to practice w/ my first and primary ID teacher three times this weekend! For everyone's information and benefit, I just wanted to add that we lay practitioners will be offering meal dana to the monks at the Washington Buddhist Vihara immediately following our practice period on Sunday morning. This will be potluck-style, so feel free to bring a vegetarian dish to share w/ the monks and lay folks alike. Looking forward to being and practicing w/ many of you all twice on Sunday and once on Monday! And some of you, on Saturday night too for the Downtown Dharma film night!

Love,
brian

Hi dear sangha,

I'm delighted to share that guest teacher Dave Leggatt will facilitate this Sunday! Dave is visiting us from Toronto, and will introduce our community to Insight Dialogue—an interpersonal meditation practice based on the teachings of the Buddha.

Insight Dialogue is a powerful way of bringing the tranquility and insight from meditation directly into your interactions with other people. (You can learn more about it here.)

After a period of seated meditation, Dave will offer an overview of Insight Dialogue. Then we'll break into small groups to practice it together: taking turns listening mindfully and sharing from our present-moment experience.

As usual, we'll gather at 7 to 8:30pm at Yoga District (1910 14th St NW, 3rd Floor) and via Zoom (details for joining are below). I hope you will join us!

Warmly,
Vince

P.S. - If you can't make it to Downtown Dharma this Sunday (or are just in love with the theme of wise speech!), Dave is teaching with two other local sanghas this Memorial Day weekend. You're warmly welcome to each. More details below.

Attending Downtown Dharma in person:

If you are attending in person, please do the following:

a) Register through the Yoga District sign-up link -- scroll way to the bottom for (14th street) Sunday 7pm.

We ask everyone to register and submit proof of boosted vaccination ahead of time to avoid delays. Class is held on the 3rd floor, up two flights of stairs.
