[Downtown Dharma Sangha Listserv] More Opportunities to Practice Insight Dialogue

Hi friends,

Thank you all for a heart-filled evening of mindful listening and sharing!

I know that many of us in this community are keen to learn more ways to bring the power of mindfulness to the full complexity of our relationships. In my experience, Insight Dialogue offers a powerful framework for this. So, I humbly share a few upcoming opportunities for those who are interested in more practice:

Tonight at 7:30pm: If you weren't able to join last night, or just want another round in community, Dave Leggatt leads Insight Dialogue tonight on Capitol Hill. This is part of the weekly drop-in meditation offering at St. Mark's. More info below.
  • If it's your first time at St. Marks, please try to arrive between 7:15 and 7:25 to introduce yourself to the friendly folks there and settle in.
Online and on retreat: Two Intro to Insight Dialogue courses launch next month on Zoom (both are donation-based). And there are multiple residential retreats throughout the year, which are a great way to get acquainted with the ID framework.

In-person practice group in DC: Wouldn't it be neat if there were a local, peer-led group that meets regularly to practice Insight Dialogue together and learn from each other? As far as I know, this doesn't exist yet. But if enough folks were interested, who knows? Please email me directly if this idea intrigues you.

Warmly,
Vince

Joy and Awareness in Our Relationships
You are kindly invited to join us on Monday, May 29, from 7:30-9:00 p.m., for meditation and discussion. We will be meeting both in person at the church and online via zoom. (Reminder that we have a new Zoom link.)

We are pleased to welcome Dave Leggatt, who has traveled to the D.C. area from his home in Toronto and will be joining us in person. For many years, he has practiced in the Vipassana tradition, and has facilitated sessions with the Insight Dialogue community -- a group of spiritual friends engaged in the Dhamma through practices guided by a relational understanding of the historical Buddha's early teachings. Aware of the importance of spiritual friendship and the power of Insight Dialogue practiced in daily life, Dave enjoys expanding the boundaries of practice for himself and others.

Note: this session may include breaking out into dyads. As usual, you are welcome to join for meditation only, or the dhamma talk only, or both.
Here are some resources Dave has shared with us previously:

Our Peer-Led Sangha
Thank you to the many of you who signed up to lead sessions and invite guest speakers and facilitators in June and July, including Vince Lampone for this week's gathering. Peer learning fosters teamwork, patience, and cooperation, enhances our learning, and helps us to look at the world differently.

To see our current schedule or to facilitate future sessions, see our group sign-up sheet.

Digital Dana
There are two ways you can donate to the sangha online. You can donate using the St. Mark's online form, or you can text "Stmarks20003(space)meditation" to 73256.

Donations to the St. Mark's Meditation Center are largely used to support operating expenses (including payments for guest speakers) and service causes and organizations in the spirit of loving-kindness. Questions on the payment processes or our use of dana? Contact Michele Rivard at MMRivard@hotmail.com.
