Update from Mission of Love Charities

Mission of Love Charities Update
We're Still Here and Serving our Clients. But with scaled back operations.
Faced with the expanding COVID-19 pandemic, and with the corresponding government orders and mandated protocols directing us all to observe social distancing, the primary concerns these days for Mission of Love Charities is the safety and health of the people we serve and our staff and volunteers.

Consequently, we have taken steps to limit the physical interaction that usually occurs during our daily operations.

Accordingly, Mission of Love Charities continues to provide food to qualified low-income and homeless individuals, families and children who come to our facility, and we continue to accept donations of food to stock our pantry.

However, we do not allow our clients to enter the building.  We interact with them at a safe distance outside our front door.

Additionally, we can help people apply for food stamps or SNAP, but we take those applications over the phone or in person immediately outside our facility.

If anyone who comes to us is in need of health care, we refer them to an appropriate health care provider.

Traditionally, we helped people faced with crisis caused by being unable to pay the rent or their utilities.  Because there is currently a moratorium on rental evictions and any cut-offs of utilities because of an inability to pay, these services are not necessary for the immediate future.

Because we are not allowing clients to enter our facility, unfortunately we are unable to provide access to laundry machines, showers or the day center.  And there is no shopping for clothing, furniture and other household items that we usually offer.

Finally, we join in asking everyone to follow these basic rules:
  • Stay home.  Do not go out and about.
  • Keep a safe distance.
  • Wash hands often.
  • Cover your cough.
  • Sick? Call ahead before you go to the Emergency Room.

Mission of Love Charities persists in its mission to serve the neediest people of our community.  But we are doing so while following all recommended safety protocols during this unprecedented pandemic.  We ask for your support and accommodation.
Sincerely,

Deborah Martinez
