Friends,

Below is an opportunity to support DC-metro area restaurant employees, most of whom are currently out of work and therefore, without pay.  100% of your donation will go to the employees of the Neighborhood Restaurant Group, which owns such restaurants as Bluejacket, Birch & Barley/ Church Key, Rustico, Hazel, Iron Gate, The Sovereign, The Partisan, Evening Star Restaurant, Vermilion, Columbia Firehouse, and others.  The management who set up this fundraising campaign are ethical and compassionate employers and trustworthy people.  I have known them for years.

Thanks for your consideration and I wish you mental, physical, and emotional well-being throughout the remainder of this COVID-19 quarantine period.

With love,
Brian

Hello friends and family--

Over the years, I've reached out to many of you for support for many worthy causes--from flood relief, to the school's PTA, to the local soccer team.  But, thankfully, I've never had to write a call to arms for something so deeply personal before.

As you know, we have operated many vibrant gathering places in our communities over the years.  Those restaurants don't run without the hard work of an incredible group of people.  From dishwashers to bussers to prep and line cooks to hosts, bartenders, and servers--these are the people who have provided the lifeblood of these neighborhood businesses.  Without the incredible front and back of the house teams that make the wheels turn, you wouldn't be getting your slushy on the Front Porch, your beer at Bluejacket, your romantic dinner at Iron Gate, pizza at Rustico, cupcakes at Buzz, your drinks at the Star---I could go on and on.  And while we are wisely quarantining to all do our part to defeat this virus, the closures associated with those quarantines are taking a real toll on all of these hard-working people to provide for themselves and their families.  We're hoping unemployment does its part, and we are actively exploring every grant, loan, and assistance program to help make sure no one on our teams goes hungry.  It's as basic as that. So we are asking those of you who are able to help out by making whatever donation you can on our GoFundMe page.  And we understand that we are not the only ones who are suffering--so many of us are experiencing hardships we never dreamed of.  So if you can't donate, pass this on to anyone you think might be able to help.  Every nickel we receive from this effort will go directly to assist the members of our team whose need is the greatest.

And one more note before you click below:  You're the first group of people to get this----as we all know, giving builds on itself, so before you do post this to facebook, help us show we're off to a strong start.

Many thanks for considering this, and I hope you and your families are doing as well as can be expected.  We'll all get through this--hopefully stronger in the long run.

Steph
