[Downtown Dharma Listserve] This Sunday at Flow: Striving to Become

Greetings Friends,

This Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30 pm we will gather at Flow Yoga, 1450 P St NW. Just a reminder that the front door closes at 6:05 so to join the class, you'll pretty much need to be on time.

Whether its a level of responsibility, recognition, wealth, physical appearance, or relationship status, our culture values achievement. Even the goal of mindfulness practice seems to be attaining ease, peace, insight and even, if you go for that sort of thing, full-on enlightenment. It's hard not to buy into achievement's demands and all that it promises. But what is that experience, working towards a future in which I'm where I oughtta be, like for the heart? How can practice develop without, even subtly, wanting anything to be different? This Sunday we'll explore how striving to become can high-jack our practice if not our lives and what we might do about this crafty menace.

Our meeting space is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.Cushions and back jacks will be provided and we can go over how to make those arrangements comfortable for those of you who are used to sitting in chairs. If you are able to come early to help set up, that would be most appreciated.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday at Flow!

With appreciation,
Kristin
