[Downtown Dharma Listserve] Online this Sunday with Downtown Dharma: The Inner Outsider

Greetings Dear Community,

As is our Sangha's pattern during the extended sheltering-at-home period, we'll meet online Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 pm to meditate together and then consider teachings in the Dharma wisdom tradition.

Many of us know well the pain of a contracted sense of self, when, under duress, we head for the hills, go on the attack, numb out, or otherwise desperately scramble for safety. Both strange and familiar, this uncomfortable feeling is most obvious in the context of some form of conflict with a family member, friend, or colleague. How might the Dharma teachings and practices support us in recognizing this specific form of suffering and finding our way back to ease and connection. How might we come to discern and respond to this "inner outsider" on other scales, both the internal relational field as well as the collective/cultural version? And beyond the relief of suffering, what might this phenomena have to teach us about the Dharma itself?

I hope to see you there.

Thank you for your practice!

Kristin
