[Downtown Dharma Listserve] This evening at Potter's House, Guest Teacher, Amy Smith, on Transforming Self-judgement

Join us 6:00 to 7:30 in the Potter's House community room for an evening with our guest, fellow IMCW teacher, Amy Smith.

After an opening meditation practice, Amy will lead an exploration into how we can transform self-judgement.

Self-judgement is pervasive in Western culture and is a cause of great internal suffering.  We can be so quick to proffer harsh judgements of our own minds, bodies and deeds. This negative way of relating to ourselves can takes its toll in our professional and personal lives, and it clouds our ability to recognize our own innate goodness -- our true nature. In this Sunday's class, we'll explore how to recognize and deal skillfully with the inner critic.  With mindfulness, metta and inquiry, we can learn to identify the inner critic and meet it with kindness and compassion, ultimately transforming our relationship to it, and enabling us to access freedom and peace.

The meeting space, wheelchair accessible, is at the end of the hallway on the right of the cafe counter. Chairs and some meditation cushions will be available, but please feel free to bring your own cushion if you like.  If you can come early to help set up, that would be most appreciated.
