[dcphp-dev] [job] Senior Web Developer. PHP / Drupal.

Global Science & Technology, Inc. (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, seeks an experienced Senior Web Developer to support NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Earth Sciences Directorate. Position is located in Greenbelt, MD.


Position Summary:


The Senior Web Developer position is part of a development team that is responsible for multiple websites central to the communication efforts of many NASA Earth Science organizations, missions, and projects. Principal duties are web site design and structure in the role of webmaster and coordination with other team member who provide web site design approval and content. The principal job requirements of this position are development of a web site that is responsive to NASA requirements, format, and standards and management of development activities to adhere to an agreed-upon web site deployment schedule and to communicate web site development status.


Position Type:  Full-Time.


Primary Duties:


• Drupal theming, deployment, and implementation of NASA Web Services.
• Web service project leadership.
• Respond to NASA web site design requirements, format, and standards.
• Establish and meet deadlines for coding and web-development tasks.
• Coordinate with and respond to web site content providers and curators.
• Communicate web site development status to NASA customers and contractor supervisors.


Secondary Duties:


• Maintain, troubleshoot and debug existing web services as needed.
• Work in a team environment.


Required Education/Skills:


• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Web Design and Development and minimum of 6 years' experience in deploying commercial or government websites and secure web applications.
• Experience with implementing Drupal-based websites and development of Drupal themes.
• Ability to create intuitive site designs for mobile and desktop web applications.
• Working knowledge of Photoshop and basic graphic design principles.
• Demonstrable experience with PHP-5.x, JavaScript/jQuery, and CSS/HTML.
• Solid track record of delivering successful websites and secure web-based applications through full product life cycle.
• Working knowledge of version control systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Project leadership experience (interfacing with customers, self-directing as part of a small team, establishing and meeting timeline milestones).
• Experience with LINUX-based systems.


Desired Skills:


• MySQL database design, administration and query optimization.
• Object oriented programming experience.
• Experience with responsive design.
• Knowledge of Apache HTTPD server configuration.
• Web server security training (GWUX/GSIP, CISSP, or equivalent).
• Experience in Python, Perl, and/or other languages.
• Understanding of Web services.
• Understanding of section 508 requirements for accessibility.


US citizenship is required.
