Dear beloved sangha,
This has been a chaotic, confusing and unnerving week. Witnessing the harm caused by the misuse of power, perhaps feeling it ourselves directly, is causing enormous frustration and anguish. This is the time to nourish and draw on our collective spiritual practice.
This Sunday we will gather to do Tonglen, an ancient Tibetan Buddhist meditation practice that helps us be present in our own suffering to develop the strength to feel compassion for others. Our own personal experience becomes the bridge to lead us into fearless compassion and act to heal ourselves and others.
We will do a meet-each-other activity, meditate in silence, I'll give a short talk, we'll do the Tonglen, and end with break out groups.
This is a wonderful opportunity to gather in community and make new friends. We hope to see you there—in-person or online. Come join us!
In-person: Sunday, 7 to 8:30pm @ Yoga District — 1910 14th Street NW, 3rd Floor, Washington, DC (please arrive 5-10 minutes early)
