[Downtown Dharma Sangha Listserv] This Sunday: Imaginal practice for beauty, insight, and mystery

Dear sangha friends,

I am looking forward to being with you this Sunday evening! I'm happy to share that I'll be bringing two dear friends of mine -- Sam Hinds and Sabra Saperstein -- to join us as guest teachers for an exploration of imaginal meditation.

Some of you may be familiar with imaginal meditation through the teachings of Rob Burbea and the Soulmaking Dharma. Sabra and Sam are both deeply seasoned practitioners in that lineage, who are presently visiting DC as fellows of The Nectary.

We will meditate together, hear some Dharma reflections, and then practice together in dyads. This is a special opportunity to taste a very beautiful, very different approach to meditation!

Imaginal practice offers a means of connecting with the spontaneous creative intelligence of the deep imagination. This can be a doorway to experiences of beauty, insight, inspiration, meaningfulness, and mystery. While imaginal experience is often cultivated through individual practice, in this evening we will explore how relational approaches can make imaginal experience both more accessible and more intimate.

We look forward to seeing you.
Love,
Dechen
