[Downtown Dharma Sangha Listserv] ISO: Weekly Meditation Space for DD Expansion

Hi Downtown Dharma Friends,

As some of you might know, we are exploring the possibility of adding another regular evening to the Downtown Dharma programming. As our community continues to grow, we are looking for a space that can host an evening session, 1–2 times per month, to complement our Sunday gatherings. Since I'll be helping to anchor the new offering as a teacher, we are looking for spaces west of Georgia Ave so that I can get there in 25 minutes or less.

What we are looking for:

• Availability: Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings from approximately 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. 
• Capacity: A space that can comfortably accommodate at least 40 people.
• Logistics: Relatively quiet environment, easy building access, and low administrative hurdles for recurring scheduling.
• Financials: Ideally, a free or low-cost community-aligned space. The ability to accept dana/donations on-site.

Potential Space Ideas:

• Community & Civic: Residential building common areas or office meeting rooms.
• Spiritual & Educational: Churches, local schools, or university spaces.
• Creative & Movement: Art galleries, dance or movement studios, black-box theaters, etc.
• Local Business: Cafés, restaurants, or businesses with open floor plans

Ideal Venue Characteristics:

• Environment: Some natural light and dimmable or warm ambient lighting.
• Equipment: Chairs available on-site; a sound system is a plus but not a dealbreaker.
• Visibility: We are happy to be listed on a venue’s public community calendar.
