[Downtown Dharma Sangha Listserv] Relational practice immersion: March 29 & 30

Dear friends,

I'm writing to invite you to a special event, taking place on March 29 and 30 at JourneySpace in Glen Echo. It's called Lyric Attunement: A Relational Practice and Embodiment WorkshopThree of my closest friends and collaborators – Tara Dougans, Garrett Jones, and Tyler Stuart – are coming from Montreal, Vancouver, and Victoria (respectively) to lead this workshop with me.

I'm inviting you to join us because I've mentioned Circling in some of my Downtown Dharma talks. If you're interested, I'd love to have a deep experience of the practice with you. Circling -- which my lineage-holders now call Transformational Connection -- is a present-moment relational practice; it is a form of interpersonal meditation. You can learn more about it here.

Garrett, Tara, Tyler and I comprise a group that we call Lyric. We are a kind of "Circling quartet," and we have been practicing together weekly for the past fifteen months. What we offer you during the weekend will represent the deepest offering we can make from our collective intelligence and love.

This will be the deepest relational practice container I've ever led in DC.

At the workshop, you can expect:

  • to connect deeply with your own body through movement and vocalization practices

  • to feel a sense of wonder as you find news ways of relating to other human beings

  • to feel a sense of adventure and growth as you explore your own interpersonal edges

  • to relax with spacious time for integration, journaling, snacks, and silence

You can read more here, and read some testimonials here, to get a sense of our flavor.

A few Downtown Dharma friends are already registered. I hope to see you there –

Love,

Ellen // Dechen

What: A two-day Circling and embodiment workshop called Lyric Attunement

When: March 29 (9:30-6:30) and March 30 (9:30-5:00)

Where: JourneySpace, a spacious and light-filled healing studio in Glen Echo, MD

Cost: $103.80, with an invitation to offer more if you would like to

To register: You can RSVP to me by email. I'll then send payment info, and your space will be held once you send your workshop fee/donation.

Getting there: We'll use a google spreadsheet to help folks carpool to Journey Space – it's about a 15-minute drive from Friendship Heights Metro.

About the workshop cost: Our practice is to make our workshops as accessible as possible, so that goodness can flow freely from our work. In setting the workshop costs, we do not include compensation for ourselves. We choose to practice trusting in life by inviting folks to gift to us if they are able.

The cost of the workshop covers facilitator travel and food, as well as the space rental. If you're able to give more than this amount, we invite you to offer whatever feels good to you right now. There will also be an opportunity to gift to us at the end of the workshop. If this amount represents a hardship for you, but you'd still like to come, please let me know and we can find an amount that works.
