Dearest sangha,
Wishing you so well amidst the humidity and heat. I am so looking forward to being with you all tomorrow night. Amidst the isolation of our ear-podded, screen-glued, algorithmically-personalized lives, what a gift it is to be among community!
In our practice, too, we can become isolated on our own cushion, in our own studies, our own practice. We have three jewels - Buddha, dharma, sangha - how much should we invest in each? The venerable Ananda, trying to square the math, suggests that it might be half of the spiritual life. "Not so, Ananda! Not so," says Buddha. "This is the entire spiritual life, Ananda, that is, good friendship, good companionship, good comradeship."
I hope you can join us this Sunday, in person or online, as we explore the power of community and friendship, and how these, too, are pathways towards progress on the spiritual path.
