Re: [Downtown Dharma Sangha Listserv] Cultivating a Compassionate Heart. Sunday, August 24

Dear Friends,

It was a true blessing to be with you all last Sunday. I so appreciated your vulnerability, engagement, and receptiveness.

I wanted to take the opportunity to follow up by re-sharing a few of the quotes that seemed to resonate with folks:

"A tiny bubble of laughter, I have become the see of mirth itself" - Parmahansa Yogananda

"Wisdom knows that I am nothing. Love knows that I am everything. And between these two my life flows" - Nisgardatta Maharaj

"We are all just walking each other home" - Ramdas

If you would like to continue practicing with me, you can look for me on the schedule at DC Bouldering Project, Luneh Yoga, and Flow Yoga. I do occasional workshops, as well, that I will make sure to share information about when the time comes.

Thank you again. In these chaotic times, now, more than ever, it is essential we walk the path of cultivating a compassionate a heart, and lean into the sacredness of our Sangha. Wishing you all a wonderful last week of Summer.

With Gratitude,
Griffen

Dear Friends,

This Sunday, I'll be offering my first Dharma talk, and I feel deeply honored to share space with you. Together, we'll explore the theme of Cultivating a Compassionate Heart.

We'll begin with a lighthearted mindfulness game and some gentle pranayama (breathwork) to help us arrive more fully. From there, we'll settle into a brief guided sit before turning our attention to the heart.

I'll offer reflections on my journey, as well as four key qualities that I believe support the cultivation of a compassionate heart, weaving in space for some small group and individual reflection as we go. We'll close our evening with one of the most powerful heart-centered practices—Metta, or loving-kindness meditation.

No prior experience is needed—just your presence and openness.

I hope you'll join us.
